Who we are and what we do
NUstudenthomes is the University’s own specialist private sector housing team, providing a range of advice on searching for and securing accommodation in the private sector and giving support to students during their tenancies.
This includes our own portfolio of individual flats and houses and purpose built en suite apartments (Albion House and Barker House) , all located in popular student areas and all managed by us, exclusively for Newcastle University students.
We lease private properties directly from owners and sub-let them to our students.

We have a wide range of properties in all popular student areas - from one-bed flats and studios to large houses to share with friends.

Our rents are reasonable with flexible payment options, and you don't have to supply a rent guarantor. Water rates* are included in the rent in most cases.
*If properties have water meters, then you have to pay the bill separately to your rent.

We won't charge you a fee to find you a home.

Up to £7000 free insurance cover is included in your rent!

We won't ask you to provide someone to guarantee your rent.
We have a fixed deposit of £200.00 per person whichever property you choose. We make every effort to make sure you get your deposit back. We provide a detailed inventory to help with this, and will also advise you during your tenancy.
NUstudenthomes accommodation deposits are excluded by the Tenancy Deposit Scheme as they are regarded as educational lets.
The University aims to return all deposits as quickly as possible.
Repair reporting serviceRepair reporting service
We have a simple repairs reporting service. We have a range of contractors, whether the repair you need is an emergency or smaller maintenance. We're also on hand to help inspect repairs and offer help where you need it.

Three termly inspections of our properties make sure they meet your needs and our standards. We're also on hand to help resolve any tenancy issues that may crop up during your stay, and have lots of advice!

The type of tenancy you have with NUstudenthomes will depend on where you live and how your group is made up.
If you live in an NUstudenthomes property your contract with us is made up of two parts, your Tenancy Agreement and your Terms and Conditions of Tenancy.

For your safety
The Safezone App is a free app that connects you directly to University Security. If you raise an alarm or call for help, on-campus Security will be alerted so they can help you quickly and effectively.
If you live in a private property managed by NUstudenthomes, just go to the student services website and fill in the enquiries form to report repairs.
To minimise any inconvenience and to help with faster responses, most of our repair contractors will use keys to access your property. If you don't want us to issue keys for repairs, then just let us know when you move in.
For any emergency call outs or repairs, just carefully read our Emergency Contractor List (PDF: 78 KB).
Be aware that you'll incur costs if an emergency contractor is used for any non-urgent repairs.
Arrival Instructions for NUstudenthomes individual flats and houses. You will each be provided with a set of front door keys. All tenants will be responsible for collecting their own keys.
Keys will be available from 12 noon on the first day of your tenancy. Please check your contract or ring us on 0191 2083333 before setting off if you are unsure of the date.
Please collect your keys from the Accommodation Service, Level 2, King’s Gate building during the following hours:

Monday 09.00 – 17.00 hrs
Tuesday 09.00 – 17.00 hrs
Wednesday 10.00 – 17.00 hrs
Thursday 09.00 – 17.00 hrs
Friday 09.00 – 17.00 hrs
Please note we will be closed on August Bank Holiday (Monday 28th August 2017)
Where possible we would strongly encourage you to collect your keys during the above office opening hours so that we can deal with any queries. However, if you are genuinely unable to arrive during these times, you can collect your keys only by prior arrangement with our Admin Team.
If you need to collect your keys out of hours from University Security, you must email our Admin Team as soon as possible, providing details of the date and approximate time of arrival. Please note we need a minimum of 24 hours’ notice (longer for weekend arrivals since we work Monday to Friday). If you are planning to arrive for keys on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th September please make contact with our Admin Team as soon as possible to arrange this. The Security Office and King’s Gate can be located by using the University Campus Map.
