Whether you are relocating to Newcastle to take up new employment and need a base until you find something permanent or you are visiting for only a short period, Newcastle University has a selection of accommodation available for staff and visitors.
With over 50 rooms/flats, we offer a wide variety of reasonably priced self catered accommodation, ranging from standard (without washbasin) through to en suite and even self contained flats.
While staff accommodation is in high demand, we are open to enquiries from external customers, who are not working at or visiting the University, who may be interested in booking our Serviced Accommodation only. Students requiring short-term accommodation will only be considered for our staff/visitor accommodation if there are vacancies and this cannot be confirmed until 14 days prior to the planned day of arrival.

In serviced accommodation, cleaning of all areas including a bed tidy is undertaken by our staff (Monday to Friday excluding public holidays). Bedding and towels are provided and changed regularly. The minimum stay in this type of accommodation is one night and you can book up to 28 nights. This self catered accommodation is available at Carlton Lodge which is located on campus, close to the University library and a short walk from the city centre.
A limited selection of serviced accommodation, which in addition includes breakfast, is available throughout the year at Castle Leazes and can be booked through our Conference Team. During the summer vacation period (late June - early September), a much wider selection and quantity of accommodation is available.
In this accommodation, guests are responsible for their own cleaning, although shared areas will be cleaned by our staff (Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays). Bedding and towels are provided but must be laundered by the guest. The minimum stay in this type of accommodation is 14 days, and you can book up to 12 months; depending on availability this may be extended. We can offer a range of sites to suit your budget so check out Castle Leazes, Leazes Terrace, Windsor Place and Windsor Terrace.
These are available for a minimum period of six months, on an assured shorthold tenancy, and you would be responsible for paying all utility charges. These are available at Castle Leazes or Henderson Hall.
Connection to the internet in staff/visitor accommodation is only available through a University network log-in which only staff working at the University will obtain. You may need to request this via your University department, if a network log-in is not provided as part of your employment. Access to some websites and services may be restricted.
We advise you to book in advance and ensure that your booking request is made a minimum of seven days in advance of the first night stay. If you are travelling from overseas and require a visa we recommend you do not make any request until your visa has been confirmed as any cancellation will incur charges in line with our cancellation policy. Complete our online booking form and we will aim to respond to your booking request within three working days of receipt. You should also refer to our booking terms and conditions. Once you have been offered accommodation you must confirm your booking within seven days.
Please note our office hours are Monday to Friday 0900 - 1700 hrs (closed on bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year).
We take the safety of our staff very seriously. University Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.
