Castle Leazes is a lively student village, just a short walk from the campus and University Sports Centre. The lifestyle is based around the central hub for meals, the bar and social space, making this a great place to live. You will always meet new friends and stay connected with our on-site WiFi. The buzz of the campus, city centre and shops are a 20 minute walk away.
With over 1,100 students at Castle Leazes, there is a large range of facilities and events to ensure that residents get the best introduction to student life.
The accommodation offers great value for money and provides something for everyone with the flexibility to choose a catered or self-catered option. In addition, Bar CLH serves good-value hot and cold snacks and drinks. Vending machines provide sweets, snacks and drinks 24/7. Sporting events are televised on the large screen TV in the bar and the TV lounges are a great area to catch up with friends at the end of your day and to watch your favourite shows and soaps.
EAT@Castle Leazes offers good quality food and hassle free meals with no need to cook after a busy day. Take a look at our accreditations. Our varied menu offers plenty of choice including Vegetarian options, however we are unable to cater for every dietary need and are unable to offer Kosher, Vegan or Halal diets.
Castle Leazes accommodation is made up of three main Halls, each one containing five blocks located around a quadrangle and there are two further blocks located near the entrance. Take a look at our site map for a more detailed view. Rooms are catered and self-catered with a choice of washbasin or en suite.
Breakfast and evening meal are served Monday to Friday in EAT@CLH. Meals are served during a two to three hour period to make sure you can work around your timetable. There are three room types available:
Washbasin rooms – bedrooms are located on a corridor of 10 to 17 students of the same gender, with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities on each floor. The blocks accommodate students of mixed gender on different floors. Small kitchens are available for preparing snacks and meals at the weekend and include a cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster but you will need your own crockery. Vacuum cleaners and ironing boards are also provided.
En suite rooms – include a private bathroom and are based in shared cluster flats of either seven to 11 bedrooms with a fully equipped communal kitchen, dining area and lounge with comfortable seating and a flat-screen TV, complete with TV licence.
*Standard room - There are a small number of rooms situated within two-bedroom flats in the blocks which are located within the main corridors and provide two single bedrooms which would be offered to students of the same gender and they benefit from having a small kitchen and separate bathroom.
Washbasin rooms – bedrooms are located on a corridor of 10 to 13 students of the same gender, with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities on each floor. The blocks accommodate students of mixed gender on different floors. Kitchens contain full sized cooker, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. A separate dining room is situated opposite the kitchen. Vacuum cleaners and ironing boards are also provided

Being self-catered you will have to cook and clean for yourself but you can opt into the catered package in EAT@Castle Leazes and let us do it for you!
A Residence Manager is responsible for the services and facilities as well as welfare and discipline.
We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.
