Leazes Terrace Arrival Instructions

Students who expect to arrive outside of opening hours will need to contact the Senior Resident on 07968 291 484 . They will arrange to meet you and provide you with your room key.

Location: Leazes Terrace is situated next to St James’ Park football stadium close to the city centre.

Directions by road:

From the North and West take the A167 exit from A1, following the signs for City Centre for approximately 3km. Take the slip road signposted University and Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI). Turn left at the first mini roundabout, and right at the next roundabout taking you along Queen Victoria Road with the RVI on the right hand side.  Take a left at the mini roundabout with the Trent House Public House on your left.  Follow the road towards the car parks and football stadium into Leazes Place – Barker & Stonehouse Furniture Store on the left hand side. Turn first right into Leazes Terrace – this is a one way street. Follow the road around to the front of the building which faces the football stadium. Reception is situated at Number 10 Leazes Terrace and faces the stadium (St James’ Park, Newcastle United Football Club).

From the South take the A1 heading past the Angel of the North indicating beginning of Gateshead area.  Turn off the A1 onto the A184 (Gateshead, Newcastle Centre).  Cross the Redheugh Bridge A189 signposted City Centre north and Ashington onto Blenheim Street. Follow the road passing the Grovenor Casino on the left and the Express Holiday inn on the right. At the fourth set of traffic lights turn left, then first right at the traffic lights to Leazes Village passing Newcastle United football stadium on the left and the Strawberry Public House on the right. Turn left into St James Street then right onto Terrace Place and take your first left into Leazes Terrace follow the one way road around to the front of the building which faces the football stadium.  Reception is situated at Number 10 Leazes Terrace.

By public transport: St James Metro station is a short walk away. There are Metro trains every 10 minutes to and from this station.  Leazes Terrace is within five minutes’ walk of the city centre where there are buses, Metros and trains to all locations.

For bus times and fares refer to Nexus Travel Line at www.nexus.org.uk or contact them by telephone on 0871 200 2233. Calls to this number will cost 10 pence a minute from a landline and considerably more from a mobile.

By train: From Newcastle Central Station you can take the Metro to St James Station. Taxis are also available from the Central Station.

By air: Newcastle International Airport is about seven miles northwest of Newcastle University.  A taxi from the Airport will take about 15 minutes, costing approximately £15. You can also travel by Metro (rapid transport system) to St James Station which will take approximately 20–25 minutes.

Please note, the University has provided this information as the most advisable route to Leazes Terrace.  Your Satellite Navigation (‘Sat Nav’) system may offer alternative instructions but we advise you to follow the above.
