“In my first year, I lived in Marris House, which is basically just the quieter version of Richardson Road. I had nice flat mates and it is perfectly located for the Medical School. In my second and this years, I lived in private accommodation which I rented through the university's NU Student Homes system. It was in Jesmond and was only £50 per week which is good value for that area. The Accommodation Service were helpful and carried out repairs to the property when they needed doing. ”

The location of Marris House and its facilities make it a very attractive option. Each flat is shared by six students and has a central communal area with an attractive open-plan living/dining area with a flat-screen TV complete with Freeview and TV licence, as well as two showers/toilets.
Marris House is part of the larger community at Richardson Road, which accommodates a large number of students, making it a lively base, buzzing with activity. Local convenience shops and the University Sports Centre, as well as EAT@THEFORUM catering outlet are located close to Marris House, and the heart of the campus is only a few minutes’ walk away. The city centre’s excellent shops and vibrant nightlife are also within a 10-minute walk. As Castle Leazes is a short walk away residents may wish to consider buying into the catered package during term time, to save time shopping and cooking.
A Residence Manager is responsible for the services and facilities as well as welfare and discipline.
We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.
