Planning permission has been granted to transform the Richardson Road site into brand new student accommodation blocks, which means the residence is no longer an option for students due to begin their studies with us in September 2016.
Following the Council’s approval of the £75.5m project, the existing flats will be demolished and replaced by six new student accommodation blocks, ranging from four to 10 stories. The new site will provide 1279 en suite bedrooms, a 351 increase in student bed spaces on the site. Demolition of the existing flats, which were built in the 1970s, will start in the summer of 2016 with the new halls set to open for students in September 2018. Further information on the development of Park View Student Village is available.
“I lived in Richardson Road halls in my first year which was the ideal place to meet lots of other students. It was no more than a 15 minute walk to the University buildings and right opposite the University gym so it couldn’t have been a more convenient place to live in first year.”
