What We Offer
We offer a selection of different room types detailed below along with further information on what we offer as standard across University-owned accommodation. An example of a typical room plan is available on page seven of the Accommodation Brochure.
Study-bedrooms
Study-bedrooms comprise of: bed (single, large single, double or twin single), desk, chair, wardrobe and shelving with internet connection included as standard. All of our accommodation has heating and lighting included in the fees (up to a set amount in Managed Partnership accommodation). The accommodation generally comprises of fully equipped kitchens, with cooker, fridge, freezer and microwave. University-owned accommodation also provides kitchen packs, which contain crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils and a small cleaning pack will be supplied on your arrival.
Some accommodation sites include a TV in the communal area complete with TV licence, look out for the TV symbol in the Accommodation Brochure. You may also wish to bring your own TV for your study-bedroom and you are required to obtain a separate TV licence and you should be aware that viewing live TV via a PC, laptop or tablet also requires a TV licence.
Standard Facilities (no washbasin)
These rooms provide a bedroom with no private wash facilities but share (ie washbasin, shower and toilet) with fellow residents. The ratio of facilities to residents is available in our Accommodation Overview. Fees for a standard room are less than those with an en suite or washbasin.
Washbasin Facilities
These bedrooms include the addition of a private washbasin whilst other facilities (ie shower and toilet) are shared with fellow residents. The ratio of facilities to residents is available in our Accommodation Overview. Fees for a washbasin room are less than those with en suite facilities but more than those with standard facilities.
En suite Facilities
Rooms offering en suite facilities provide an adjoining pod bathroom, comprising a private shower, washbasin and toilet, which is for the sole use of the occupant and guests. You will share the lounge/kitchen facilities with fellow residents.
Deluxe/Premium en suite - a larger room offering en suite facilities provide an adjoining pod bathroom, comprising a private shower, washbasin and toilet, which is for the sole use of the occupant and guests. You will share the lounge/kitchen facilities with fellow residents.
Bedding
Bedding is provided in University-owned accommodation for postgraduate students, whilst undergraduate students can save space when packing and pre-order a bedding pack (duvet, duvet cover, pillow, pillowcase and sheet at a cost of £25 for a single and £35 for a double which includes an extra pillow and pillowcase).
Bedding is not provided in Managed Partnership accommodation. The deluxe rooms in Victoria Hall and all rooms in Liberty Plaza - Central Link provider larger beds, so we recommend you bring double size bedding.
Studio
A studio comprises of one room which includes the sleeping area and lounge/kitchen area with an adjoining pod bathroom, comprising a private shower, washbasin and toilet. The studio is for the sole use of the occupant and guests.
Self-contained flat
A self-contained one bedroom flat provides a bedroom, a separate lounge/kitchen with an adjoining bathroom, comprising a private shower, washbasin and toilet. The self-contained flat is for the sole use of the occupant and guests.
Safety and security
We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estate Security Officers patrol our University-owned accommodation to ensure your peace of mind. The majority of University-owned or Managed Partnership sites have entry phone systems and CCTV.
No smoking policy
Smoking is not allowed in any part of University-owned or Managed Partnership accommodation, but is permitted in designated areas of the grounds.
Internet access*
All of our University-owned or Managed Partnership study-bedrooms have internet access.

Private rented accommodation
If we are unable to offer you university accommodation, you will need to consider looking for private sector accommodation on arrival. We strongly encourage you to view all accommodation before committing to a property. For details of availability, please see our private sector website.
