What Happens Next?

You will be allocated your room as soon as you have met the terms of your academic offer and your application will be dealt with based on the date you applied. You will be informed as early as possible about the outcome of your application. All applicants covered by the guarantee can expect to receive an offer of accommodation as follows:

Undergraduates including Full-year Erasmus/Exchange Students

  • UF offers (unconditional offer, firmly accepted) you should receive details of your accommodation allocation during May.
  • CF offers (conditional offer, firmly accepted) you will receive an offer of accommodation within two weeks of receiving your exam results, providing your offer has been confirmed and we have received your online Accommodation Application. If you have not heard anything by 31 August, please contact us.
  • CI offers (conditional offer, accepted as insurance) or clearing, are not guaranteed accommodation. Such applications will be dealt with after 1 September 2012.
  • Alternatively, if you have not heard anything by Wednesday 5 September, you should contact us.

Postgraduates

When you have completed the online Accommodation Application, paid the £500 application fee and accepted an unconditional offer to study at Newcastle University (all of which must be done before 30 June 2012), we will process your application. If you were unable to make the payment at the time of completing the application, you can pay afterwards using the online payment system or make arrangements to pay by bank transfer. Payment should reach us within 14 days of completing your application. Note that until this Fee is paid, your application is incomplete and will not be processed.

Your offer of accommodation will not be sent before the end of April 2012 - please note whilst it was anticipated that anyone holding an Unconditonal Firm offer would receive details of their room allocation prior to the end of April, there has been a slight delay. We therefore expect to be able to send you details during late June or early July.

We allocate postgraduate accommodation throughout the year, but we are particularly busy in August and September. If you have not received an offer from us by the first week in September, please contact us.

If you cancel your application prior to receiving an offer of accommodation, we will refund the Application Fee minus a £50 administration charge.

Applicants not covered by the guarantee: Applications will only be dealt with after all applications from guaranteed students have been processed. This will not be before 1 September 2012.

Important information for all students

You should be aware that, to ensure a balanced mix of students, the Accommodation Service does not knowingly house students registered on the same programme together, nor is separate accommodation assigned for particular cultural or religious groups. Wherever possible, however, mature undergraduate students are located together or with postgraduate students.

We will make every effort to offer you a place in your preferred accommodation, but we cannot guarantee this. If you have a disability or special requirement for a specific type of accommodation, please ensure you provide details on the online Accommodation Application. If you fail to disclose this information, it could result in you being made an offer of unsuitable accommodation with an appropriate alternative no longer being available.
