Offer of Accommodation

We make every effort to allocate accommodation according to your preferences. When this is not possible we use your important factors as a guide to an alternative allocation. This means that if we offer you an alternative site/room type, we have met the terms of the guarantee. If you are allocated accommodation, one of the following will happen:

University-owned and Managed Accommodation - you will receive an e-mail asking you to log back onto the website to review the offer made to you online.

Managed Partnership Accommodation - if you have been offered a room in Liberty Plaza-Central Link, you will be sent an e-mail directing you to a new Liberty Living central log-in site, where you will register and review the offer made to you online.

If you have been offered a room in Magnet Court or Victoria Hall, the e-mail will contain several attachments. You will need to print and return the required documents, which may include a pre-payment.

Offer Decision

Accept the Offer - please read through all the information carefully as you will be creating a legally binding document. You should ensure you accept the offer by the expiry date. Failure to accept will result in the offer being withdrawn and the room given to another student.

Reject the Offer - you should think very carefully before rejecting the offer as you will not be made another and you will need to find your own alternative accommodation. Postgraduate students who have paid the £500 application fee should note that your rejection of this offer of accommodation will incur a cancellation charge as follows:

If the offer of accommodation made to you matches one of the three named sites within preference group one of your application, the full £500 will be charged, therefore you will receive no refund. We class a match as being offered the named site and specific wash type of the room, but not room size (ie if you requested a large en suite, but have been offered a medium en suite, we deem this to be a match to your preference).

If the offer matches one of the three named sites within preference group two of your application, we will charge you £250 and will refund the balance.

If we have made you an offer of accommodation which was not one of the named site preferences you made on your application, we will charge you £100 and refund the balance.

If you formally reject the offer and believe you are entitled to a refund you should complete the Refund Request Form.

Important information for all students

You should be aware that, to ensure a balanced mix of students, the Accommodation Service does not knowingly house students registered on the same programme together, nor is separate accommodation assigned for particular cultural or religious groups. Wherever possible, however, mature undergraduate students are located together or with postgraduate students.

We will make every effort to offer you a place in your preferred accommodation, but we cannot guarantee this. If you have a disability (including any hidden disability) or special requirement for a specific type of accommodation, please ensure you provide details on the online Accommodation Application. If you fail to disclose this information, it could result in you being made an offer of unsuitable accommodation with an appropriate alternative no longer being available.
