As part of our Accommodation Guarantee, Newcastle University has agreements with private providers, such as DIGS Students, Downing Students, Liberty Living, Unite Students and Victoria Hall which allow us to offer you a range of excellent en suite accommodation across the city.
If you decide to live in one of these partnership schemes your contract will be with the company who owns the scheme. However, the Accommodation Service will manage your application and allocation for you so there is no need for you to contact the providers directly. You can move in from September 2015 and contracts lengths vary from provider but are generally either 42, 43 or 50 weeks meaning they are not suitable for part-year students only studying with us for one semester. There is also the option to extend your contract over the summer.
The terms of your contract will differ to those of the University. To secure your accommodation you will be asked for some payment in advance, such as a deposit and first payment of rent. This is the usual practice when moving into private accommodation. You will need to provide a suitable guarantor, and if you are unable to do this you may be expected to pay the full-year accommodation fees in advance of your arrival.
Depending on which of the Partnership schemes you are allocated, you will either:
All Partnership schemes provide a full management service as well as out of hours cover. The Accommodation Service based in Level 2 King’s Gate can also support students with queries and concerns whilst living in Partnership Schemes.
As bedding is not included in partnership accommodation we have bedding packs available which you can purchase on your arrival.
Living at one of these sites is a popular choice with Newcastle University students due to the excellent facilities.
