In order to maintain the Accommodation Guarantee, the University has entered into agreements with private providers, such as Liberty Living, Victoria Halls and Unite. Contracts offered are over a variety of 42, 43 or 50 week periods with the possibility to extend over the summer. You can move in from September 2013.
You should not approach these private providers direct, as the Accommodation Service will manage your application and allocation but your contract will be with the company who owns the scheme. If you are offered a room in Magnet Court or Victoria Hall, the contract will be e-mailed with other relevant documents. These can be quite large attachments, so you should ensure that your e-mail account can receive them. For room offers in Liberty Plaza - Central Link, you will be sent an e-mail which will direct you to the online contract.
You will be asked for some payment in advance, such as a deposit and first payment of rent to secure the accommodation. This is standard practice in private accommodation. If you are unable to provide a suitable guarantor, you may be expected to pay the full-year accommodation fees in advance of your arrival. The terms of contract will differ to those of the University.
Bedding is NOT included in private accommodation, but you can purchase bedding packs upon your arrival.
