As part of our Accommodation Guarantee, Newcastle University has agreements with private providers, such as Liberty Living, Victoria Halls and Unite to offer you a range of excellent en suite accommodation across the city.
If you decide to live in one of these partner sites your contract will be with the company who owns the scheme. However, the Accommodation Service will manage your application and allocation for you so there is no need for you to contact the providers directly. You can move in from September 2013 and can choose your length of contract, either 42, 43 or 50 weeks. There is also the option to extend your contract over the summer.
The terms of your contract will differ to those of the University. To secure your accommodation you will be asked for some payment in advance, such as a deposit and first payment of rent. This is the usual practice when moving into private accommodation. You will need to provide a suitable guarantor, and if you are unable to do this you may be expected to pay the full-year accommodation fees in advance of your arrival.
If you are offered a room in Magnet Court or Victoria Hall, the contract will be e-mailed to you with other relevant documents. These can be quite large attachments, so you should ensure that your e-mail account can receive them. For room offers in Liberty Plaza-Central Link, you will be sent an e-mail which will direct you to the online contract.
As bedding is not included in private accommodation we have bedding packs available which you can purchase on your arrival.
Living at one of these sites is a popular choice with Newcastle University students due to the excellent facilities and flexible contracts.
