Livestock - The Beef Unit
Bulls. Bull calves from the dairy herd are currently finished on a silage based system. Expected carcase weight is around 320kg at around 14 months of age. - Beef-cross heifer. About 30 - 40 heifers again from the dairy herd are also reared on a silage system. They are normally sold in the spring and autumn into suckler herds for bulling at around 450kg liveweight.
