Congratulations to Dr Luca Panzone who has received a Teaching Excellence Award for "Research Supervisor of the Year 2017". The Awards are presented annually by Newcastle University Students’ Union and this category recognises outstanding supervision to postgraduate research students, guidance that will have enhanced their abilities as scholars, as well as help to overcome any personal or professional obstacles.
The ‘TEAs’ encourages students to nominate any member of staff, from across the University’s four campuses, that they believe have contributed to their academic life whilst at Newcastle. This year, NUSU received 349 nominations for the eleven different categories. Winners were then announced at the awards on 4th May, with many University staff, representatives and students in attendance.
Chris Duddy, NUSU Education Officer, said: “Not only did we receive more nominations than ever before, but the detail and quality of each nomination was astounding. It made the shortlisting process both a difficult and daunting task, but being able to see the delight on the winners faces last night made the hard work more than worth it!
“We’ve had fantastic support from students and staff from all of our University’s campuses, and we are delighted that the TEAs have been able to recognise fantastic practice across both regional and national boundaries. It is our students who have nominated and shortlisted the excellent entries that we’ve received and I really want to thank them for their support.”
