Our research includes basic and applied social science research in rural economy and rural development, agricultural economics and food marketing.
The Centre for Rural Economy is the umbrella for all social scientists in the School. A key focus of our research is the study of socio-economic and environmental aspects of territorial development in rural areas.
The Agricultural Economics and Food Marketing research groups focus on agricultural and food issues both in the UK and abroad, and are well known for their work in national and international agricultural policy analysis and modelling, marketing and market analysis and consumer behaviour, with reference to developed, developing and transitional economies.
The Centre for Rural Economy hosts the RELU Programme Office which oversees more than 300 researchers in 52 institutions, funded jointly by the ESRC, BBSRC and NERC.
