Biogerontologist and key member of the Newcastle University Institute for Ageing, Professor Tom Kirkwood, has been named on The Chronicle’s most influential list.
The list, which summarises the most influential individuals in the North East, features some of the most revered brands across the region, highlighting key figureheads and what they have achieved in their careers so far.
Professor Kirkwood’s work and expertise in the field of ageing research has been significant for the North East’s and Newcastle University’s excellent reputation in this area, understanding the science behind ageing and what this means for healthier later life.
His academic research has reached a number of audiences, most notably the House of Lords, for which he was a special adviser.
Professor Kirkwood (pictured right, delivering a lecture in Vancouver) is currently Strategic Research Advisor for the Newcastle University Institute for Ageing, and continues to share his research globally.
