Professor joins international discussion on long term care

Deputy Director of the Institute for Ageing joined AXA colleagues at an international event to discuss Long-Term Care.

Professor Carol Jagger who is the AXA Professor of Epidemiology at the Newcastle University Institute for Ageing, joined other members of AXA to discuss pressing issues relating to how we can futureproof the provision of care for our growing older population.

With the increase of the world’s population, coupled with the frailty of public insurance schemes, financing long-term care is set to be one of the biggest challenges we face as a society.

AXA experts gathered with academics, AXA Group Risk Management and AXA Research fund to discuss these challenges at the AXA headquarters in Paris on 26th October 2017.

Questions they posed were: how to define long-term care, and what population falls under this category of needs? How will the needs evolve in lights of the current health, social and technological trends? Who will bear the burden, for the informal care and the financing of care?

The aim was to share best practice examples and foster ways to provide better long-term care for individuals in the future.
