Venue: Newcastle University campus, venue tbc
Date/Time: 9th February 2013 - 10th February 2013, 09:00 - 16:00
Newcastle's annual International Development Conference will be held on campus from 9–10 February 2013. This year's theme is 'alternative development – the road less travelled'.
Is the west way really the best way to develop? Is development a compass that is stuck pointing west? Are we at a difficult crossroads in development and we don't know which way to go?
The IDS Conference 2013 aims to answer and challenge these questions and the western neo-liberal perspective on development that is being fed to the developing world. We aim to address the different and realistic paths of development other than the western way, which almost certainly has its flaws in the western world and shows no example to the developing world.
Keep an eye on the University's International Development Society website and Facebook page for details of fantastic speakers, researchers, politicians and more for the critically acclaimed Newcastle University International Development Conference 2013. You can also add the event to your Facebook calendar.

Meanwhile, the International Development Society is forming an alumni group with the help of David Moffatt (BSc Agriculture 1967). David outlined a vision for the group in the November 2012 issue of AlumNews. If you'd like to join the new alumni group, please e-mail a brief statement of your interest to David at: david@djmoffatt.co.uk
