Social Mentoring Support

Students walking at quaysideThese days, going to university is a substantial commitment for any student. It’s an exciting time, but for some students, making friends and adapting to university life can also be very challenging.

Newcastle University’s Student Wellbeing team recognises the importance of supporting students who might be finding it difficult to fit in, especially in their first few weeks.

Meet@NCL is a project exclusively funded by donations to the alumni fund from Newcastle University graduates. Your vital contribution enables our Student Wellbeing team to set up support networks specifically designed to help students to meet new people.  The team also offers one-to-one mentoring for students who feel anxious about joining social activities.

Social networks are crucial in helping students bridge the gap between school and university. Currently, these networks fall outside any government funding, but the support they provide is often the key factor in enabling students to stay at university.

With your support, we can make sure our students have a great experience and make the most of their time at Newcastle University.
