ACG member profiles: Professor Patrick Lavery (PhD 1968)
Patrick has had a highly successful academic and business career which included service as Principal of a General Further Education College, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Humberside and Chairman of a Health Trust Board in the North East. He also represented the region on the Council of the NHS Confederation.
Patrick spent 10 years acting as an advisor to the European Commission and also advised private sector firms and national tourist organisations across Europe. For the past ten years he has managed his own business consultancy, which specialises in European programmes and external funding. He has also written several reports for the Economist Intelligence Unit.
Currently, Patrick is owner of ‘Inspire People Group’, a Northumberland based partnership providing a range of training and HR services to graduates, employees and employers in Northumberland and the north east at large with a particular emphasis on employability across a range of target groups at a difficult time in the economy.
Patrick has also strong voluntary sector links, notably with the Prince’s Trust and with other charities based in the North East of England.
