Originally from East Anglia, Alastair moved to Newcastle to study Naval Architecture in 2003. During his time at Newcastle University in the department of Marine Science and Technology he participated heavily in the organisation of the Sailing Club, and the student run departmental society WetSoc. Alastair graduated in 2008 with a 1st Class degree in Naval Architecture.
He began his career with Babcock Marine in their Tyneside office employed as a Graduate Naval Architect working in the Offshore Oil and Gas industry. Following 3 years of employment by Babcock, Alastairmoved toAlnmaritec Ltd who specialise in the design and construction of Aluminium work boats.
Aside from work, Alastair is active in the Marine Industry in the North East and has helped create the Newcastle University Marine Alumni Branch (NUMAB) which has been running now for over 3 years. During his recreational time Alastair enjoys the outdoors, participating in a range of sports and activities around the Northumberland countryside. Alastair aims to apply for his Engineering Chartership within the next two years, and perhaps one day finish decorating his house.
