ACG member profiles: Dr Savvas Papagiannidis (BSc Physics 1999, PhD 2003, DBA 2009)

Savvas PapagiannidisSavvas has been a proud student, member of staff and alumnus of Newcastle University for more than 15 years. He has studied for a BSc Honours and a PhD in Theoretical Physics. He has also completed a second Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), a Masters in Education (Practitioner Enquiry), and a PG Certificate in Academic Practice. He is now reading part time for a Masters in International Studies.

In 2004, Savvas joined Newcastle University Business School, where he is now a Senior Lecturer in Management and the Degree Programme Director for the MSc in E-Business. As part of his faculty role be has invested much time and effort promoting the University and its merits to new students and has regularly kept in touch with alumni. Savvas’ background and his long-established relationship with the University and its students, faculty and alumni puts him in a unique position, which offers him a holistic view of what it truly means to study, work and be part of the Newcastle University family.

Savvas works closely with the alumni team and the University to further strengthen the University's position, especially when it comes to alumni relations. Savvas is a Member of the British Academy of Management, a Member of the Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has also been a member of various departmental and University committees, including the Union Council and the Alumni Consultative Group. Among his editorial and reviewing activities, Savvas is one of the founding editors of the International Journal of Business Science and Applied Management.
