New Delhi Event Review

Graduates living and working in India attended a special alumni event in New Delhi, where Professor of Education Technology and Director of SOLE Central, Sugata Mitra, was keynote speaker.

On Saturday 20 February, some 50 graduates gathered at The Park Hotel in New Delhi for an evening of networking, building business contacts and rekindling old friendships.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Engagement and Internationalisation, Professor Richard Davies shared the latest news from campus and highlighted how research at Newcastle University is making an impact across the world.

Professor Sugata Mitra then gave an update on SOLE Central. SOLE (which stands for self-organised learning environment) Central is a new research centre at Newcastle University which leads the School in the Cloud project, a series of learning labs in India, the US and the UK where children working in small groups, with access to a computer and when prompted by the right questions, can essentially learn on their own.

Every year NU Advancement organises a range of alumni events around the world, spanning career development workshops, networking opportunities, reunions and social gatherings. To ensure you hear about future events in your area, please take a moment to update your details.
