The Management Board at North East charity, Meadow Well Connected, is looking for graduates who are prepared to volunteer their time for a good cause – as its director, Peter Berrie, explains:
In particular, we're looking for expertise in marketing, finance and business management but any interested person is welcome to contact me to find out more.
We operate a community centre in the North Shields area unlike any you will have come across. Our facilities include an IT Centre, a café, a large garden centre, a creche, training programmes, rooms for hire, drug and alcohol counselling and financial advice. We also operate the Terra Nostra project that investigates and implements renewable energy technologies at the centre.
The charity has been operating for nearly 20 years. In early 2010, we nearly lost it but with hard work and a National Lottery grant, we're turning it around and we're now aiming to become self sufficient by building on the income we get from our integral businesses.
Organisationally, our current priorities are to strengthen the Board and to implement a comprehensive marketing strategy. We are also about to embark on ISO9001 certification and are defining our business strategy for 2012–2015.
Graduates who are interested in helping this thriving charity are encouraged to contact me for further details and discussion. An informal visit to the centre with no commitment is a good way to size up whether this is for you and I'm very happy to arrange that.
We're always interested in talking to people who wish to support us in any way, so please contact me even if you have different skills to those listed above.
