Peabody celebrated its 150th anniversary this year by launching an architectural competition titled '150 Homes for 150 Years' the competition asked entrants to develop a proposal for an exemplar housing development of approximately 150 homes on a four-acre site in Plaistow, Newham. A separate conceptual competition ran along side this to highlight the design talent among practices that did not meet the pre-qualification criteria for the main design competition.

James Perry & Claire Harper (2008 graduates) were announced as the winners of the conceptual competition, winning a cash prize of £10,000. Their achievement has been publicised through the Peabodys websiteBuilding Design Magazine and Architects Journal

Claire and James graduated from Newcastle University in 2008.  Claire is currently a research student, writing a PhD on 'the implications of higher urban densities for housing design'.  James works as an architectural assistant; he is a qualified planner and is currently working towards his part III qualification.
