Student Travel Awards 2010

Congratulations to architecture student, Philip Turner, 2nd prize winner of the Student Travel Award sponsored by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF). Now in its 6th year, the award supports the industry's emerging talent by encouraging new creative thinking and engagement in international research.

Philip won the prize for his piece titled "Palate's Palace", a project proposed to expand on the existing Newcastle-Gateshead "EAT" food festival.  Located at the heart of Gateshead Town Centre on the Tesco supermarket car park, Palate's Palace project includes a fixed base for the festival and widens its scope throughout the year.  It aims at generating a platform for social exchange and an improved urban environment in neglected areas otherwise marked as impossible to address.
