A publication of urban design and architecture study

The Other Side of Parma is a short publication presenting the results of students’ urban design and architecture study. Guided by the expertise of lecturers Tim Townshend, Armelle Tardiveau, Daniel Mallo, and Georgia Giannopoulou, students were asked to examine the social demographics of the Italian city of Parma relating to the built environment. They were specifically asked to focus their attentions on the struggling Oltretorrente area, or the other side of Parma. In response to what the students uncovered in their investigations, in which structured interviews with local residents played a major role, they proposed uniquely transient interventions. Head of Planning and Urban Design, Tim Townshend, said "The Other Side of Parma reflects a huge amount of work from the tutors and students involved. It will be sent back to all those people who helped us in Parma as a thank you and a physical manifestation of how much we valued their input. I think its provides a great example of cross school inter-disciplinary activity!"
