Top Business Leaders Visit University and City

A group of top business leaders (members of Committee for Geelong -http://www.committeeforgeelong.com.au/_home.asp) from the City of Geelong, Australia (Victoria's 2nd city) are visiting Newcastle and Gateshead from 14-16 June as part of a European tour of cities identified by the team as exemplars of post-industrial regeneration.

The Geelong team is lead by Peter Dorling who is the Executive Director of Committee, as well as a member of the Australian Federal Government Regional Development Board.

While here they will be meeting senior advisors from Newcastle and Gateshead Councils, local business leaders and academics at Newcastle University. The visit is being co-ordinated by Tim Townshend, Director of Planning and Urban Design, SAPL.

It is hoped that the visit will be the catalyst for more links between the two cities and Tim Townshend has been invited to visit Deakin University's Geelong campus in August 2010 as Adjunct Professor to advise on the development of an accredited planning degree.
