The Space Between - UK Book Launch

Book launch event with short talks by Max Risselada, Andrew Ballantyne and Stephen Parnell, and a chance to meet the family returning to where it all began.

Date/Time: Thursday 18 May 2017, 17.30

Venue: Crit 1 of the Architecture Building, Newcastle University

After starting their architectural studies at Newcastle, Alison and Peter Smithson went on to become key figures in the architecture world. Their designs and polemics established Brutalism as the most important British contribution to the international Modern Movement.

The third and final volume of their collected works, The Space Between, edited by Max Risselada, gathers together their essays that aim at developing a sensibility of place.

To launch the book in the UK you are invited to join members of the Smithsons’ family at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape at Newcastle University.

There will be short talks by Max Risselada, Andrew Ballantyne and Stephen Parnell, and a chance to meet the family returning to where it all began.

The event will take place in Crit 1 of the Architecture Building (location 27 on the campus map).
