Architecture Professor on Grand Designs

Andrew Ballantyne, Professor of Architecture, is one of the experts consulted for a forthcoming episode of Grand Designs.

Professor Ballantyne drew on his book Rural and Urban: Architecture Between Two Cultures for Grand Designs: Living in the Country, which is about relatively small-scale house conversions and buildings.

Professor Ballantyne talks about people who work in the city who buy country cottages, giving it historical perspective going back to the sixteenth century and drawing on some of the themes that feature in his book Tudoresque: In Pursuit of the Ideal Home.
