
Dr Andrew Law has been the focus of Chinese media whilst on research sabbatical leave in the country for taking part in traditional Chinese activities, specifically the Hanfu movement. Hanfu is a movement to promote traditional Chinese clothes and intangible heritage in more everyday public and private settings. The movement is not simply about Chinese clothes however, but is a movement connected to a whole series of traditional values and ideas.
Dr Law has appeared on Chinese television (Taste Duanwu, enjoy Duanwu (dragon boat festival): Xi’an Museum Holding “Culture Chang’an Small Goose Pagoda Prayer” activity Shaanxi Television Station) and been interviewed for the Xi’an Evening News and China Huanqiu News.
Dr Law's over-arching interest is research on the sociology of nostalgia and urban memory but he is also researching Chinese culture, nostalgia, politics, heritage and urban development.
