Dhruv Sookhoo, Visiting Lecturer within the School, has been appointed to the Royal Institute of British Architect’s influential Housing Group. The group provides a source of expert knowledge to steer the RIBA’s policies, actions and guidance on housing issues and its membership includes some of the most influential architects from across the housing sector.
Dhruv said: “Housing affordability and delivery is an increasingly political issue, and there is a tendency for quantity to become the principle policy focus. So it’s a privilege to contribute to a practitioner group that is working hard to promote better design and construction quality by identifying ways to support architects and their clients, and to highlight the importance of delivering better quality to government.”
Dhruv is a chartered architect, chartered planner with experience of leading design quality agenda within developing housing association. He has recently been awarded a prestigious Economic and Social Research Council funding through the NEDTC to complete research exploring how planners and architects could cooperate more effectively to achieve better residential design quality.
