
Dr Mehmood is currently working on environment, sustainable development and climate change issues in policy and planning. He also has research experience and interest in socio-economic development, spatial planning, social innovation, exclusion and integration in urban and peripheral regions, and small islands.
Before coming to Newcastle, Abid had a career in business administration until 2000 when he moved to France for a Research Masters degree (DEA) at University of Lille 1. After joining Newcastle University, he has worked on a number of research projects for European Commission, particularly KATARSIS and DEMOLOGOS, apart from completing his PhD at SAPL.
