Professor Colin Haylock

Background

Colin is an Architect-Planner with forty years experience in senior positions in public and private sector practice including over ten years as Assistant Director responsible for Environmental Design services for Newcastle City Council and ten years as Urban Design Director of a major architectural practice.

He has been a member of the RTPI’s Council and General Assembly since 1990 and was National President of the RTPI in 2012.

Colin worked for over ten years as one of the leading practice contributors to the work of CABE (the former Government’s Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) as its North East Regional representative and a founder member of its’ national Planning Advisory Committee.

Recently he was invited by Boris Johnson to be the only non-London based member of his sixteen person Mayor’s Design Advisory Group through to the end of his term of office in 2016.
