Introduction

I am a visiting fellow at Newcastle University, School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape.
My research interests are landscape architecture theory, methodology and history. My research is funded by a Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
I am assistant editor of the peer reviewed journal Landscape Research.

Current research project

Exporting Landscape Urbanism. An analysis of 'landscape', 'ecology', aesthetics' and 'hybridity' in the discourse of Landscape Urbanism and Ecological Urbanism

In my current research project I analyse the still quite recent notion of Landscape Urbanism and Ecological Urbanism. I am particularly interested in the following questions:

• What are the programmatic goals and strategies of Landscape Urbanism? Even though various programmatic statements have been published, a systematic description of the objectives and strategies is still lacking. A critical perspective on Landscape Urbanism and Ecological Urbanism will be developed by analysing the role the key concepts 'landscape', 'ecology', 'aesthetics' and 'hybridity'.
• How can and does the primarily US-American movement of Landscape Urbanism contribute to solving probelms in peri-urban landscapes in Europe?
