Education and Outreach Activities

children with masksThe plant collections at Moorbank present a spectacular vehicle for informing and educating all age groups on a range of topical environmental issues that include: climate change, carbon trading, medicinal plants/drug discovery and biodiversity conservation.

Over the past 12 months, over 400 pupils from 20 local schools have participated in workshops that include:

• Plants and Biotechnology
• The Food we Eat
• Leaves as Markers for Air Pollution
• Plants and Climate Change

chlidren drawingMoorbank also hosts Plant Masterclasses as part of the Excellence in Cities scheme, has linked with Tyne and Wear Museums for delivery of environmental workshops for primary schools and is a popular venue for adult evening classes in painting and photography.
