Newcastle Excellence Scholarships

Who is the award for?

The awards are aimed at talented, first year, UK undergraduate students commencing study in September 2012.

Award Amount

£500 per grade A achieved in BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, MATHS or PHYSICS at A level (or equivalent qualifications) up to a maximum of £1,500. This sum is awarded one time only.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for the award you must:

  • Make the School of Biology Degree programme your FIRM choice (UF or CF) through UCAS
  • Exceed the grades specified in your conditional offer
  • Meet or exceed grades specified for individual subjects
  • Be a UK or EU student
How to Apply

You do not need to apply for these awards as you will be considered automatically upon receiving your examination results. You will be contacted by the school if you have met all of the criteria.

When will the award be paid?

Half the award will be paid early in year 1 and the second at the start of year 2 as long as a 70% average is achieved in year 1 assessments.

In addition, one bursary of £500 will be awarded to the highest achieving applicant from the University's PARTNERS programme for widening participation in higher education.
