The School of Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle is housed in The Faculty of Medical Sciences which also accommodates Dentistry, Medicine and Psychology.
The School is located in newly-refurbished accommodation in the Leech and Cookson wings of the Medical School Building. Accommodation includes a dedicated Teaching Support Office, with a senior administrator and eight administrative staff. We also have a team of six technical staff who support our undergraduate teaching.
The School has four large teaching laboratories and an undergraduate resource room. There are 8 Lecture theatres in the Faculty accommodating between 100 to 450 students. All of our lecture theatres have undergone refurbishment and include state of the art audio visual equipment.
There are a number of seminar rooms/classrooms in the building for small group teaching accommodating up to 40 students each.
The School of Biomedical Sciences draws on staff in the Newcastle Biomedicine Research Institutes to teach at all levels of our programmes ensuring that our degree programmes reflect the very latest developments in Biomedical Research.
The Walton Medical Library which is part of the University Library is located on the 5th Floor of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and carries an extensive stock of books and journals relating to all the taught modules and the research of the Faculty.
The Faculty also has 5 computer clusters with between 20 and 90 PCs each for the use of students. All clusters are open between 9-5pm Monday to Friday with one cluster having 24-hour access.
There is also an undergraduate common room and cafeteria located on the ground floor of the Medical School.
