Congratulations to our iGEM team  who have won a gold medal at the iGEM competition in Boston.

Three of our current undergraduate students, Harsh Sheth, Younus Essa and Rachel Boyd together with one student who graduated last year and is now studying for a PhD (Alan Koh) were part of the team.

The International Genetically Engineered MAchine (iGEM) competition is a worldwide synthetic biology competition aimed at undergraduate university students.  This is the third time a team from Newcastle have won the gold medal.
