Four students from the School of Biomedical Sciences have been successful in the first round of the University Enterprise Challenge by submitting outlines of their business ideas to win against over 100 entrants. http://www.ncl.ac.uk/careers/makeitfly/challenge/
Gareth Symonds and Laura Ingham, both stage 2 Biomedical Sciences students won a prize with their idea for Roundup, an online and paper sports supplement and are now entering the second stage of the challenge.
Sarah Frere-Cook and Will Power who are stage 3 Physiology students won a prize for their idea for a combined drugs and alcohol detection unit. The students initally developed the idea whilst studying the Business for the Bioscientist module and are hoping to combine their scientific degree background with business in future careers.
