Current Position: Studying Medicine at Queen’s University, Belfast
I liked the flexibility of being able to change onto a different degree, and the programme allows you to get a flavour for different modules before committing yourself. The support from academic staff is fantastic and is available from the very first day of stage one.
Before my current position I worked as a Student Employment Assistant for Newcastle University's Careers Service. This vacancy was advertised through the university’s e-recruitment web system.
During the summer of stage two I did a ten week summer placement with the school, through the Newcastle Work Experience scheme. This is the scheme I now help to administrate in my current role. My placement provided me with invaluable work experience and an excellent grounding for graduate-level positions.
My degree helped me to manage my workload, prioritise tasks and generally cope with working in a stressful, pace-faced working environment. My current role requires me to juggle many different tasks at once and learning to refine my planning and organization skills during my degree has definitely been a real asset to my working life.
