Partners Scheme

Partners Scheme

The School of Biomedical Sciences takes part in the Partners programme supported entry route.

The Partners Programme is a residential summer school which offers a supportive boost to eligible participants on their Higher Education journey and is designed for students that demonstrate the potential to succeed at Newcastle.  On passing the scheme students will receive a conditional offer from the School that is lower than a typical offer.

The 5-day programme replicates a typical university teaching experience by incorporating practical sessions, lectures and tutorials.  Students are introduced to a research question on their arrival which they work towards solving under the guidance of two members of academic staff, the School's technical team and two postgraduate students.

Assessment of the programme is designed to mirror the experience of our first year undergraduate students, comprising an online examination, completion of a practical handbook and writing a short piece of scientific prose.
