Biomedical Sciences students

Study Abroad

The Study Abroad programmes are designed for students who have completed at least one year of study at their home institution and wish to spend time studying at Newcastle, earning credits to transfer to their home institution.

Study Abroad students, whether they spend a year or a semester in Newcastle, are fully integrated into the University’s academic schools and student community. A number of programmes are available throughout the University. For module information please go to the link below

Pre-Med Study Abroad Programme

The Pre-Med Study Abroad programme has been specifically designed to meet the needs of pre-medical students from North America, planning to apply to a United States Medical School. Students who successfully complete the Pre-Med Study Abroad Programme can apply for Newcastle's MBBS programme (places available on a competitive basis) or year two entry into one of our biomedical sciences programmes.

Students can choose any of the modules that we offer to our undergraduate students in the Faculty of Medical Sciences (depending on timetabling). In addition you may wish to choose modules from one of the other faculties (depending on timetabling constraints). There are also specially designed options for pre-med study abroad students which aim to further enhance your medical school application. You will also undertake clinical shadowing in one of the teaching hospitals and study a clinical skills module.

Biomedical Sciences Programme

Newcastle has a strong tradition of welcoming students onto its Biomedical Sciences Study Abroad Programme.
This programme is for students who want to be exposed to high profile teaching and research. Students may study most of the modules offered by the School of Biomedical Sciences. Students taking Liberal Arts programmes at their home University may also choose modules from one of the other Faculties (depending on timetable constraints).
