Roger is the author of Crash Course series on Endocrine and Reproductive Systems which was in THE top 10 academic bestsellers

Member of International Editorial Advisory Board of the first edition of Gray’s Anatomy for Students.

External Examiner for Medical and Dental courses at Leeds, Khartoum, and Karachi.

Roger delivers master classes in gross anatomy for surgical trainees at Newcastle, London, Nottingham, Leeds, Kuwait, Ghana, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

Roger is a reproductive immunologist by background with a research track record in normal and pathological human pregnancy. He was awarded as principal or co-investigator £1,085,333.00 in research council funding and £279,955.00 in other research funding.

He was a member of the Research Advisory Committee for WellBeing of Women and Chair of Trustees and Treasurer of British Society for Immunology.

From 2002 Roger has focused on educational issues, especially in the field of clinical simulation.

In 2005 he was awarded a Newcastle Teaching Fellowship to develop clinical skills teaching resources and an EU Tempus Joint European Project (€454,055.00) leading a consortium with partners at European Surgical Institute , European Institute for Telesurgery and education experts at Maastricht University to introduce clinical skills training into the undergraduate medical degree course and graduate surgical training programmes at Cairo Medical School  by delivering pedagogic training for module leaders on teaching material development and design of course modules.
