Medical Science (Deferred Choice)
BSc Honours, UCAS code B902

This programme lets you delay your choice of degree until you have had the chance to find out more about the different subjects we cover.

Phase 1 is common to all our bioscience degrees giving you have maximum flexibility and choice. During Stage 1, you're introduced to core ideas in bioscience and biomedicine, such as the molecular basis of cellular processes, the inheritance of characteristics and the study of body functions.

At the end of Phase 1, you choose one of our Honours Options to follow, and in your final two years you take the modules which form part of that degree. You could choose to study Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Genetics, Biomedical Sciences with Medical Microbiology, Pharmacology or Physiological Sciences.

It is also possible to transfer to study medicine or dentistry at the end of Stage 1, although entry is competitive and based on your Stage 1 performance and an interview. There is also a graduate entry route to medicine available at the University.

The Quality Assurance Agency noted that this Deferred Choice degree ' offers considerable flexibility to students and contributes to the exceptionally low attrition rates'.
