These are programmes designed for Medical and Dental undergraduates. Within the medical programme there is the chance to step aside from the course to undertake further study and/or research. We are happy to consider medical and dental students from other universities for our intercalation programmes.
In order to study for a related BSc in Biomedical Sciences, you must have successfully completed the first two years of the MB BS or BDS degree in the UK (or equivalent from overseas). Students undertake the final year of one of our biomedical science degree programmes, leading to a BSc Honours degree.
The programmes available for intercalation are: Biochemistry, Biomedical Genetics, Biomedical Sciences with Medical Microbiology, Pharmacology and Physiological Sciences. There is a two-semester programme of study. Semester 1 consists of taught modules. Semester 2 is a research semester and students undertake a research project in one of the internationally rated research laboratories in one of the research institutes in the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
If you need any further information about intercalation opportunities please contact Dr CI Baldwin (Email: christopher.baldwin@ncl.ac.uk).
