I studied Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle University and graduated in 2002 with a 1st class honours degree. I am now on a 2 year graduate training scheme in Marketing with ReckittBenckiser Healthcare, a Hull based company producing and selling brands such as Lemsip, Bonjela, Gaviscon and Senokot. The company also has a household division in Swindon selling products such as Finish, Mr Sheen, Calgon and Veet and similar graduate schemes are run in household. After applying for several different jobs my current employees saw my CV on the Prospects website, contacted me to come for interview and I was fortunate enough to be recruited. The training scheme is very varied; I deal with consumers, healthcare professionals and the trade and I am exposed to many different aspects of Marketing such as TV and press advertising to consumers, promotions to healthcare professionals and launching new products. I will also undergo placements in related areas such as sales and market research as part of my training. After the 2 years I will be promoted to a position within the company as an Assistant Brand Manager on one of the healthcare brands. The aspect of my job that I like most is the variety, one day is never the same as the rest, plus the huge responsibilities I was given right from the beginning. I am very happy working for the company and can recommend a career in healthcare marketing to anyone wanting a challenging and varied career.
