Organisation

The Faculty of Medical Sciences comprises 7 institutes and 4 schools, based on sites throughout Newcastle, with collaborations across the North East of England.

Institutes

Institutes are centres of research excellence, with each institute focused on a single research theme. Our institutes are:

• Institute for Cell and Molecular Biosciences
• Institute of Cellular Medicine
• Institute of Health and Society
• Institute of Genetic Medicine (IGM)
• Institute of Neuroscience
• Northern Institute for Cancer Research (NICR)

Schools

Our academic schools focus mainly on research-led undergraduate teaching and professional development and qualifications:

The Clinical Academic Office works jointly with the NHS to oversee clinical academic training and clinical research.
