Funding from a commercial partner has facilitated development of drug candidates active against infectious diseases and have entered clinical development.
As part of the Newcastle Biomedicine’s quest to be a world leading centre in translational medicine, the Joint Research Office (JRO) was established to provide important links between the University and our NHS partners by facilitating bench to bedside research. JRO will help you through the process whether it is clinical research, laboratory based research or a combination of the two.
We aim to link the University’s Research Institutes with the Directorates within the Trust, as well as utilising the skills and expertise of the staff in the research platforms.
Once a researcher has had an idea the JRO can use their established network to offer support throughout the study lifecycle, from identifying funding sources, assisting investigators in designing their protocol through to its implementation and publication.
Enquiries from commercial customers interested in carrying out research and clinical trials with Newcastle University are welcomed, and may be eligible for support from the Business Voucher Scheme.
