I undertook intercalated BSc in cellular biology after my 3rd year of medical training and graduated from Leicester Medical School in 2006. My foundation years consisted of a clinical FY1, and an academic FY2 which was split as 2/3 of the time working in Accident and Emergency Department and a third working as a Clinical Demonstrator at the Leicester Medical School.
I moved to Newcastle in August 2008 after gaining the Academic Clinical Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The ACF has provided me with the start of my specialist training and a continuous period of dedicated academic work.
Despite knowing Newcastle by its reputation only prior to my move I feel right at home here now. The University is friendly and supportive and the busy Obstetrics unit at the RVI has been great for the start of my clinical training. I am still discovering the beautiful countryside of the North east and the city centre definitely lives up to its reputation leaving me with few reasons to miss the midlands.
