Why did you choose Newcastle?
It’s a great city populated by great people. It also has a rich history from trade and industry to medicine and infectious diseases. The university has world class research facilities and researchers who reflect the city within which they work – friendly, approachable, keen to help. The city is also perfectly located for those of us who like the outdoors….or more specifically Northumberland. The UK’s best county in all 4 seasons!
What are your aspirations for your time on the Clinical Academic Training Path?
To gain an insight into some of the world class dementia research that is being conducted within the renowned Institute for Ageing and Health. In doing so I aim to make contact with a wide variety of researchers to explore the work that they are doing in order to learn, be inspired and to help decide in which direction I would like to go in when applying for an Academic Clinical Fellow post. I am also aiming to have my work - looking at the prevalence of Lewy Body Dementia - accepted for presentation at an international conference and to submit my work to a high impact peer reviewed journal.
