Current Work

“Why Newcastle?”
I have been asked this many times since I accepted my current post. I am very interested in Haematology and the Northern Deanery was the only Deanery offering a post in Academic Haematology when I was considering applying for the Academic Foundation Programme. I have also visited Newcastle many times before and enjoyed both the vibrant city and the gorgeous surrounding countryside enormously.

My work
I am under the supervision of Prof Anne Dickinson and Prof Graham Jackson. They are extremely supportive and have helped me a great deal to settle in and get started. We are interested in the immunobiology of haematopoietic stem cell transplant and that of Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD). I am also involved in an audit looking at grading and monitoring of chronic GvHD with Dr Matt Collin. I also attend clinics when possible, as well as cover on-call shifts in General Medicine in the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
